On the offshore barrier island in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.florida-scout.com\/en\/gulf-coast-region\/southwest\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8264\">Southwest<\/a> Florida, there is little car traffic, but two beautiful beaches: <strong>Sea Grape<\/strong> and <strong>Range Light<\/strong>, with the southernmost of the two being the more beautiful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">There are also two picnic areas. <strong>Swimming, snorkeling, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.florida-scout.com\/en\/fishing-florida\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"5856\">fishing<\/a><\/strong> and enjoying nature are the main activities that take place here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">The beautiful <strong>Boca Grande Lighthouse<\/strong>, built in 1890 at the southern tip of the island, is one of the oldest structures in Lee County and the oldest building on the island. The adjoining museum and visitor center can also be visited, although there are closures during holiday periods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\"> The <strong>U.S. Coast Guard<\/strong> operated the lighthouse until 1966. Since 1983, it has been open to the public after extensive renovation work. In 1986, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Not to be confused with a white lighthouse located a few miles off the southern tip, which appears rather shabby and neglected.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gasparilla and the
