At many further glances, it is reminiscent of Italy, a romantic grotto, thundering waterfalls, a palm grove, Venice itself and you feel like you’ve been transported back centuries.

The magnificent palm trees line the pool and a thundering waterfall drowns out the sounds of civilization outside the resort. The fascinating waterscape is lined with pristine coral rock. It is fed by a groundwater spring that supplies more than 3 million liters of water. Caves, waterfalls, small coral grottos and the man-made sandy beach with an open area for swimming leave nothing to be desired. In summer, the pool is emptied and refilled daily. The water is completely free of chemicals and comes from artesian springs.

The Venetian Pool is very popular as part of summer holiday programs for school children. The locals like to celebrate birthday parties here with their children or come for special activities on Saturdays. The shallow toddler area is accessible from the main pool via an island and stone bridge.

Children under the age of three are not permitted to enter. Of course, the heavy influx of children is not necessarily what romantics are looking for. Nevertheless, the pool is worth a visit. After all, you can have a great time watching the little ones having fun. The dark caves and waterfalls on the other side of the pool are also worth a visit.

Roman imperial bath as a model

How the pool came to be is just as interesting: when tons of rock were excavated in 1923 for one of Miami’ s most beautiful new neighbourhoods, a large ugly fissure gaped right through the middle of the settlement. Much of the coral limestone used to build the city’s glamorous buildings, squares and houses came from this quarry.

However, the landscape planners already had a plan in the drawer: the irregularly shaped hole was to be transformed into a kind of Roman imperial bath. It was filled with water, tiled and decorated with mosaics.

The Venetian Pool was intended to serve as a meeting place for the city’s residents. Old photographs in the entrance area of the facility still remind us of this time. Sometimes the water in the pool is drained to create a stage for an orchestra at the bottom of the pool. Here they give concerts in an incredible atmosphere.

Information & Route planner Venetian Pool

Opening hours

Closed until mid-2025

barrier-free

✅

Admission

$ 22 adults, $ 17 children

Children

from 3 years

Parking

✅

Your guide to Coral Gables

All the highlights, tips and sights around Coral Gables at a glance!

DISCOVER Coral Gables NOW

Frequently Asked Questions

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"FAQPage","@id":"https://www.florida-scout.com/en/places-of-interest-atlantic-coast/venetian-pool/","mainEntity":[{"@type":"Question","name":"How deep is the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables?","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is up to 2.40 meters deep. The historic natural stone pool with water from an artesian spring offers shallow areas for children and a deep main area for swimmers."}},{"@type":"Question","name":"Is the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables open again?","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"No, the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is currently closed.
