Deco district of Miami Beach is the largest contiguous area of houses in this architectural style <strong>after Napier in New Zealand<\/strong>. Most of the buildings date from the 1930s and 1940s. They were built on the southern tip of Miami Beach and were due to be demolished in the meantime.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At that time, the run-down Art Deco district was populated by vagrants and drug addicts. However, protests by citizens&#8217; initiatives prevented this and the Art D\u00e9co buildings were restored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These unique architectural <strong>960 historic gems<\/strong> are located in a zone of approximately 2.5 km\u00b2, which was established by the Miami Design Preservation League and other preservationists and is now one of the largest historic preservation areas in the USA.
