Anne’s Beach on Islamorada invites you to play

One of the best beaches on Islamorada is Anne’s Beach on Lower Matecumbe Key, located directly on Overseas Highway MM 73.4. At low tide, the sand turns into a clear strip of water with tidal pools. Hammocks and tidal pools resemble a green tunnel. Children love this and play happily in the mud. The shallow water is also ideal for the little ones to swim in.
Even though the beach is located on the Atlantic coast, there are hardly any waves. The clear, warm to very warm water is ideal for swimming all year round. A wooden bridge connects the two existing parking lots at Anne’s Beach. There are covered picnic areas and toilets.
The beach is also popular for kiteboarding and kitesurfing . Due to the shallow water, it is particularly suitable for learning this young sport. If you don’t have time to go to the beach on your way from Miami to Key West vice versa, it’s worth making a short stop to take a break from the 3 ½ hour drive.
Popular with families with children
The beach is known for its shallow, calm waters and is ideal for families with children and for water sports. A highlight is the raised wooden walkway that leads through the mangroves and provides access to several small bathing bays.
The beach was completely renovated after the damage caused by Hurricane Irma and now offers amenities such as covered picnic areas, public restrooms and barrier-free access. However, parking is very limited.
