Fun and excitement for the whole family
Elaborate backdrops for New York or San Francisco and simulation attractions make a visit to Universal Studios an unforgettable experience. The seven themed areas guarantee excitement and fun for the whole family as well as for die-hard blockbuster fans:
In contrast to other amusement parks in Orlando, Universal Studios is organized less by theme and more by region. In San Francisco or New York, for example, the respective region-specific architecture is implemented. When entering the park, you should first check the dates of the live shows, even if it is difficult to see all the shows in one day even if you are well prepared.
All parks at a glance
Here you will find an overview of the most important leisure and amusement parks in Florida. Make your selection according to criteria such as location, admission, with/without children, etc.
Wizarding world of Harry Potter
Walking through Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley, dining in the Leaky Cauldron, shopping for Weasley’s magical wizarding charms: this is what the magical world of the famous hero has to offer. The dark side of magic in Nocturnal Alley makes Harry Potter’s heart beat faster.
The attraction “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts” is reminiscent of the escape from Gringotts. In the bank with its large marble lobby, you can watch the goblins at work. The journey continues through underground passages. This multi-dimensional thrill ride puts visitors right in the middle of the action. Innovative technologies and special effects ensure an intense, unforgettable experience.
On the Hogwarts Express, guests with a bonus ticket go through the wall onto platform 9 ¾ just like Harry Potter. They take the train at Kings Cross station in Universal Studios and travel from Hogsmeade station to the sister park “Universal’s Islands of Adventure” and back. Every journey is different.
Directly on the film set in Production Central
On entering the “Production Central” themed area, you first walk past a realistic film set before arriving at the park’s individual production halls. In the Transformers: The Ride-3D attraction, you can expect a great battle in which the boundary between fiction and reality merges. The epic HD-3D film offers flight simulation with thrills.
In “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem”, the little yellow Minions from “I: Simply Incorrigible” cause all kinds of mischief for visitors. In a turbulent simulation ride, real and worldly Minions are accompanied by Gru and his three daughters.
The short trains of the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit roller coaster are pulled up to around 50 meters with a 90 degree steep lift before they plunge into the non-inverting loop and shoot through the backdrops of the studios with numerous curves. At speeds of up to 105 km/h, 17 storeys are climbed before you roll over in the record-breaking loop. Passengers can choose the soundtrack for their ride themselves. At the start of the ride, simply select your favorite song from the display on the bar and two speakers in the backrest of the seat will play it.
The green Shrek 4D from the swamp goes on his honeymoon with his wife. She is kidnapped by the ghost of Lord Farquard. Shrek and the audience must now free Fiona from the clutches of the evil little lord. Movable seats intensify the feeling of being part of the action.
New York, New York
If you’re not afraid of rollercoasters, you can dive into the dark in Revenge of the Mummy. You enter a museum full of sarcophagi, mummies and all kinds of other Egyptian finds. The rollercoaster that follows is quite something. Not only complete darkness in parts, but also numerous special effects and a backwards ride are not for the faint-hearted. But for everyone else, this is probably one of the best roller coasters in Orlando.
A street party in Delancy Street at Universal Studios with live music entertains in “The Blues Brothers Show” in the style of the Blues Brothers films with Dan Aykroyd. Jake and Elwood sing and dance the blues in New York City.
San Francisco with a view to the future
In San Francisco, you can currently “only” satisfy your hunger and thirst. Lombard’s “Seafood Grille”, for example, serves delicious seafood that you can eat on a pretty little terrace while boats gently rock against their buoys. The area is currently being renovated. From 2017, the classic Fast+Furios – Supercharged will be a hit here.
Hollywood in the footsteps of Arnie
At Universal Orlando’s Horror Make Up Show, you can find out how the make-up for a horror movie is done. Not everything always goes as smoothly as expected. While the effects are not for the faint-hearted, there are some pretty nasty gags. Young children are out of place here.
In Terminator 2: 3D, the defense contractor Cyberdyne Systems wants to present its latest development, the T-1000, at an open day. This combat machine is second to none. However, not everything goes according to the company’s plans during the demonstration. You won’t meet Arnold Schwarzenegger in the flesh here. But this 4D cinema is cleverly peppered with live actors and extraordinary effects. And after all, the real Terminator tries to save the world from the invasion of the machines via the screen. This show is also not entirely suitable for children.
Aliens attack the World Expo
The Universal Studios exhibition “The Universe and You: Are We Really Alone?” was moved from the 1964 New York World’s Fair to Universal Studios. Today, it provides the backdrop for the headquarters of the Men in Black. The agents set off on an alien-hunting mission in training vehicles.
The Simpsons Ride takes you through “Krustyland”, the theme park of the popular TV clown of the same name. Here you also meet characters from the popular animated series “The Simpsons”. The wild ride turns out to be a deadly trap: Tingeltangel Bob is on the hunt for Bart Simpson. The simulation ride turns into a turbulent trip with all kinds of action.
Woody Woodpecker’s Kidszone
Children love this themed area: animal stars from Hollywood productions show off their skills: Dogs, cats, pigeons, parrots, otters, mini pigs and more show off their tricks in the “Animal Actors on Location!” show.
For the little ones, the pink dinosaur Barney appears in “A Day in the Park with Barney”. He sings in front of a small, simple 360° screen. With “I love you”, heart-shaped balloons fall from the ceiling, delighting even those who don’t know Barney.
In the water play corner of Curious George Goes to Town for 2 to 5-year-olds, they are led by the not-so-curious monkey “Coco” over his footprints in the ground. As the trouble for Coco gets bigger and bigger, the little ones get wetter and wetter – a welcome refreshment in hot Florida.
For children from the age of three or with a height of 92 cm, this is the start of the career ladder as an adrenaline junkie. The Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster is a scenic experience for the whole family.
At the “Fievel’s Playland” playground, based on the movie Feivel, the mouse wanderer, the youngest children are transported into a world from a mouse’s perspective on slides and climbing frames.
E.T. still wants to go home: In E.T. Adventure Land, you can accompany the friendly alien from Steven Spielberg’s classic film on his bike through the forest. You will be chased by the police until you finally take off into the sky and encounter colorful flowers and cute E.T. creatures. Before setting off, passengers need an interstellar passport, which they should take good care of.
