Turner Beach | Paradise for shellfish bunting

Turner Beach is located on the southern tip of Captiva Island and is known for its diverse selection of shells, stunning sunsets and tranquil atmosphere. The beach offers a picturesque backdrop for relaxing and exploring, but the currents here are strong – so take care when swimming.
When it gets cold in Florida… That doesn’t exist? Well, if you describe cold as a spring-like 18 degrees Celsius, then it’s probably January in the Sunshine State. And then it’s time for a beach walk of superlatives on Turner Beach. Here you will find pure, gentle tourism. If you walk just a little to the north, you will soon find yourself alone. The wide sandy beach offers the sound of the sea and waves that are rarely found in the Gulf.
The only problem for beachgoers is the agony of choice: should I look at the breathtaking sea or devote myself to the many shells? The Sanibel Stoop is omnipresent here too. So don’t forget your bag.
Collecting shells on Turner Beach
A few surfers can be found in the water, waiting for the alternative wave of the day. On land, pretty Floridian houses peek out through numerous palm trees and the tropical flora. Beachcombers skip merrily away from the recurring waves as if they are having fun. Seagulls look on.
The small parking lot is not exactly cheap at 4 USD per hour, but there is usually one even in high season. If not, a little waiting will soon be rewarded or drive 1.5 miles further, where there is another parking lot. Toilets and showers are available at the first parking lot.
