Precision Woodwork for Florida Interiors

Skilled carpenters give Florida homes their finishing touch with crown moldings, ceilings, and custom cabinetry.
The next trade is carried out by the carpenter and therefore the carpentry work: He sets the frames, installs the interior doors, fits the skirting boards and installs the decorative moldings on the ceilings. We are partly responsible for fitting the built-in wardrobes ourselves, using the modular construction method of a Swedish furniture store.
This trade amazes German house builders. Door panels and wooden slats are delivered, all of which have to be painted or varnished first. What an effort and what a stumbling block for quality. Well, other countries have different customs.
Smooth white doors with modern door handles
We opted for lacquered interior doors with a white frame. The dimensionally stable door leaves made of pressboard are beyond high-tech. The hinges? Let’s not talk about that. Sure, there are doors like those in Germany, but you can’t afford them. So we’ll never be able to leave the bedroom silently at night without our partner noticing.
The surrounding door frames and skirting boards (trims) are all nailed on individually, the nails and butt edges are caulked later. You will always see it, but at some point it will no longer be visible. We deliberately didn’t want the usual stepped trims, but rather very smooth, simple, modern trims with no frills.
Step Ceilings: Modern with indirect LEDs
We have a so-called step ceiling in the living room and bedroom with a higher central ceiling. This is typical in Florida living rooms.
Because we wanted a modern look here too, we drove all the way to Naples to pick up the curved moldings. Behind the strips is an LED snake for pleasant, color-selectable indirect lighting. That’s a really nice touch with the step ceilings. It really enhances the room.
Fitted wardrobes with and without Ikea
We chose a modular system from Ikea for the walk-in closets. In the vacation homes we had previously lived in, there were always just simple wire shelves with a clothes rail underneath. We wanted drawers and shelves. And what could be more obvious than using the well-known and proven “do it yourself” kits.
With the carpentry work and cupboard installations, the house is slowly getting ready to move into. A few more fans need to be screwed on, lights installed, everything cleaned and the CO. Then we can start moving in.
